Jacob Grimm's

Most people are familiar with brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm through their collections of folktales, particularly their
collection of Märchen, or fairy tales.  But the Brothers Grimm were scholars of many facets of Germanic languages and
culture.  Of particular note is a work published by Jacob Grimm, which he entitled Deutsche Mythologie (German Mythology).  This work is a comprehensive overview of the beliefs, customs, and practices of the pre-Christian Germanic tribes.  First published in 1844, Grimm published two more editions during his lifetime.  A fourth edition was published after his death, by his friend Hugo Mayer, in 1876.  An English translation was completed by James Steven Stallybrass in 1888 (although he released it under the title Teutonic Mythology, for reasons which he explains in the text).  This work is considered by many to be indispensable to anyone engaged in the study of ancient and early medieval Germanic culture.

So it comes as some surprise that this work has been out of print for many years, and is fairly hard to come by today.
But now, Grimm's work is available to all who would like to obtain it.  Using my scanner, I have reproduced every page of
both the original German text (using the 1876 edition) and Stallybrass' English translation.  Both works are now available in
Portable Document Format (PDF), on one CD-ROM. Here is just a small sample of what's available on the CD.

In recent years, these works have been known to sell for up to $700, but now, you can get the complete work (in the original German and the translation) for only $15.00 (includes shipping/handling).

So if you would like to own a copy of this great work, send a check or money order (*) for $15.00 to
