People the world over have long enjoyed the tales of the Thousand and One Nights, aka the Arabian Nights. What many do not realize, however, is that they are only getting a small portion of the tales associated with the Nights, i.e., whatever stories that particular translator feels is worthy of inclusion in their work. As a result, while just about everyone is familiar with some stories, such as "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves," others are virtually unknown to Western readers.
During the nineteenth century, however, a number of multi-volume English translations of the Arabian Nights were produced. Of these, the most notable is the ten volume translation produced by Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890; he later produced seven supplemental volumes). This work is the most complete English translation of the Nights ever produced. It is therefore surprising to find that, while abridged versions of this work are still available, the complete work has been out of print for decades. Many have wished to obtain a copy of this work, only to discover that they were unlikely to find it except in decaying texts held by large university libraries.
Thanks to modern technology, however, this work is now available to all who might wish to obtain a copy. Armed with my trusty scanner, I have reproduced every page of each of Burton's volumes (the initial ten volume set, as well as the seven supplemental volumes) exactly as they appeared in print. This work is now available in Portable Document Format (PDF) on CD-ROM. Here is just a small sample of what's available on the CD.
Obtaining each of the ten volumes would probably take quite a long time and would certainly be very expensive (one set recently sold on Ebay for $340.00; other sets have been known to go for up to $2,000). But now, you can get the full translation on CD for a mere $15.00 for the first ten volume set, or $10.00 for the supplemental volumes . Or get both for only $20.00! All prices include shipping/handling.
So if you would like to have a copy of this great work, send a check or money order (*) for $15.00, $10.00, or $20.00 to

Warning: These are not the sanitized children's stories that the West has come to know. These are the tales of the Nights in their original form, and some stories contain graphic descriptions of sex and violence. If this offends you, another translation may be more suitable for you.
